Stan Callahan; has over 40 years’ experience as an artist and art teacher/ tutor and has taught both indigenous and non-indigenous secondary school and adult learners. Winner of over 40 awards in the visual arts, including best painting of the exhibition 3 times and people’s choice award 5 times. Other awards are for best traditional landscape, seascape, contemporary paintings and sculptural pieces. His works have been acquired by local governments, businesses and by private collectors worldwide.
His painting of the HMAS Moresby, commissioned by the RAN has been honored by being included in the Navy's Permanent Collection. A veteran of many solo and combined exhibitions, Stan is still creating works of complexity and beauty, a dedication to the natural world around us.This latest exhibition of small original oils, painted with thick oil in the impressionist style is a slight departure from his larger, more contemporary acrylics.
